EFT Couples Therapy

Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT) is a transformative approach to couples counselling that helps partners rebuild emotional connection and heal relationship challenges. This evidence-based therapy goes beyond traditional relationship counselling by addressing the deep emotional patterns that create distance between partners.

In individual therapy the individual is the client. In Couples Therapy or Relationship Counselling, in essence, the relationship is the client.

I specialize in Emotion Focused Therapy for Couples or EFT Therapy and in creating a supportive, judgement-free environment so that everyone feels safe and heard.

Emotion Focused Therapy for Couples - EFT

Emotionally Focused Therapy focuses on the ways in which our relationship interactions get organized into patterns and cycles. EFT Therapy helps explain how and why we get into those patterns in the first place so that we can interrupt them. EFT is built upon an understanding of Attachment Theory and how both early experiences shape us and how couples seek to feel secure and cared for within their relationship.

Couples who struggle with conflicts and communication problems are likely to benefit from EFT for Couples.

"When couples enter therapy, often both partners will say that they feel stuck or misunderstood.  Commonly, they say that they don’t feel heard by the other anymore, or that they feel criticized or alone.  In spite of their best efforts to make things better, things seem to be getting worse instead of better.  They don’t feel as special to each other as they used to, or at least that message doesn’t seem to be getting across anymore.  There is increased distance between them."

If you are thinking of trying EFT Couple Therapy, I will gladly answer any questions or concerns you have during a Free 30 minute consult session.
